Order No.: S-SI-72/55

Supersedes: S-SI-MBNA-72/14, January 1997

Group: 72

Revision:
Updated to include model 210

SUBJECT:
MODELS 124, 129, 140, 202 and 210
REPLACEMENT OF DOOR INTERIOR TRIM PANEL COMPONENTS

On the above models, door interior trim panels components, such as arm rests and door pockets (where available as spare parts) can be replaced using the retaining clips listed below, with the exception of model 202 rear doors (see S-SI-MBNA-72/13, May 1995, for model 202 rear door interior panel disassembly/assembly procedure).

Interior door trim panel component replacement procedure

1. Remove the interior trim panel assembly (See WIS, group 72 for work instructions on removing/installing trim panels).

2. Using cutting pliers or a 5/8 inch chisel and hammer, remove the rounded portion of the plastic mounting studs (back side of trim panel) of the component being replaced.

WARNING!
Always wear eye protection when removing the rounded portion of the plastic mounting studs. Use extra caution so that only the rounded portion is removed and the surrounding area of the door interior trim panel is not damaged.

3. Insert the new component (2,3) into the door interior panel (1). While providing support to the component, use a suitable tool (4) and press the clips (5) onto the studs securely (Figure 1).

4. Trim the studs to 1 mm above the clip (Figure 2).

CAUTION!
Trim studs cleanly, use of excessive force will crush studs.

a = 1 mm

5. Reinstall trim panel.
