With Generic Scan Tool

NOTE: Observe all system specific instructions listed in the "Preparation for Test" section. Preparation For Test - Section 22

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) which have been stored due to testing or the disconnection of lines must be erased from the diagnostic trouble code memory at the end of testing.

NOTES REGARDING DTC READOUT USING GENERIC SCAN TOOL
A generic scan tool will only read codes from the diagnostic module (DM). All other modules require Mercedes Benz special tools.

OBD II Connector:

SCAN TOOL HOOK-UP AND EXTRACTING CODES
1. Connect the generic scan tool to the OBD II data link connector (X11/22).
2. Extract fault codes according to scan tool instructions.
3. Find correct fault code (DTC) in code chart and test suspect circuit or component as indicated in the "Test Step/Remedy" column
