DISASSEMBLE
1. Mark relative positions of CV joint race, hub and ball cage before dismantling using an electroscriber or whetstone

2. Swivel joint hub with ball cage and remove balls one by one
3. Remove joint hub with ball cage from joint race

4. Swivel hub through 90° to ball cage and remove

CHECKING CV JOINT

- Check ball tracks at joint race, hub, ball cage and balls for pitting and signs of wear (arrows)

NOTE:
^ If these parts show signs of serious wear, then the entire CV joint assembly must be replaced
^ Flat spots and marks caused by the balls themselves are no reason to replace the CV joint

ASSEMBLE

1. Position hub perpendicular to ball cage and insert

2. Insert one ball, observing the markings on the joint hub and ball cage
3. Insert hub with ball cage and ball into joint race, again observing the markings (arrow)

NOTE: If the parts are not marked, install the joint race so that the narrow side of the ball track always faces the wide side of the hub or vice versa (arrows)

4. Tilt out hub with ball cage enough so that one ball after another can be inserted
