D. Wiring Harness Installation

1. Disconnect negative battery terminal before routing wiring harness and provide access to fuse terminals in Fuse and Relay Box F1.

2. Install wiring harness for the illuminated door sill trim panels as illustrated in figure 5. Begin routing wiring harness at the lower left A-pillar, behind kick panel. Tie wires to the existing harness with cable straps. Apply felt to protect the wires as required.

3. Route the wires for the connection to the fuse and relay box (F1) along the existing harness (Figure 6) and tie with straps.

4. Connect red wire at the fuse position number 8 in fuse and relay box (F1). Connect red/white wire at the fuse position number 17. If both wires for the connection to the fuse box are of the same color, look for the tag on the wires for proper identification. Close the fuse and relay box (F1).

5. Route the harness (10) for the connection on the right side behind the heater box on center console. Route wires along the existing harness in the front passenger footwell and to the right door sill harness channel (Figure 7), tie with cable straps.

8. Route the wires for the left illuminated door sill trim panel in the left harness channel (Figure 8).

7. Piece the igniters with two pigtailed connectors in the left and right door sill harness channel respectively and tie to the existing wires.

8. Plug one connector (11) from the igniter (12) to the connector on the main wiring harness (10). Connect the other side in the same manner and tie down to the existing wires in the harness channel with cable straps.

9. Connect the other connector (13) from the igniter (12) into the connector from the illumination foil of the assembled door sill trim panel. Repeat the same procedure for the other side.

10. Route wires for the connection to door switches (S17/3 and S1714) in left and right B-pillar harness channels.

11. Pull out the connector (15, Figure 9) from the left door switch (S17/3) on the B-pillar. Remove brown/gray wire from the connector (15) using pin extractor.

12. Disconnect 2-pin in-line connector (18) from the harness (10) and insert brown/gray wire from step above into terminal pin number 1 (Figure 9). Reconnect 2-pin connector (16).

13. Insert single wire (17, Figure 9) from the other side of the connector (16) into the freed terminal of the left door switch connector (15) and plug onto the door switch. Repeat the connection procedure on the other side.

14. Place all wires back in B-pillar harness channels and tie with cable straps. Cover the harness channels on both sides and replace the assembled illuminated door sill trim panels.
