Removing And Installing Contact Spiral


Model 208 Shown:












1 Remove steering wheel

NOTE: Front wheels in straight ahead position

2 Only unscrew fixing bolts (32h) until the contact spiral (A45) can be removed.

NOTE: The fixing bolts are used as an anti-rotation device or assembly aid at the same time.

3 Carefully remove contact spiral (A45) from jacket tube

NOTE: Installation: Push on contact spiral (A45) up to the stop; the recess must align with the fixing lug (arrows) and the connector (a, b).

CAUTION: If the contact spiral was twisted, e.g. when the steering coupling was removed, Adjust center position of contact spiral.

4 Check contact spiral (A45) for damage
- Visual inspection.

NOTE: The upper (32f) and lower sections (32g) of the contact spiral are clipped together and can only be separated due to the effect of excess forces or defective assembly. If this is the case, wind the contact spiral up carefully and assemble with care, not pinching or kinking the contact spiral (32e).

CAUTION: Do not use oil or grease

5 Install in reverse order
