Remove, Install Exhaust Manifold

Remove/Install

1 Separate plug connection of sensors
2 Completely remove exhaust system
3 Remove air cleaner

NOTE: When removing right exhaust manifold. Remove air cleaner by lifting vertically up and off the cylinder head covers.

4 Remove ignition coils
5 Remove washer fluid reservoir for windshield washer system

NOTE: When removing left exhaust manifold.

6 Slacken left engine mount at front axle carrier

NOTE: When removing left exhaust manifold.

- Bolt of front engine mounts to front axle carrier = 35 Nm

7 Remove exhaust manifold

NOTE:
- Left side of engine:
- Push engine to the right for this step and lift exhaust manifold up and out.
- Right side of engine:
- Take out exhaust manifold from bottom.
- Installation:
- Replace nuts (156/1).
- nut to exhaust manifold = 16 Nm
- Replace gaskets (156/5).
- If bolts at flange connection of front exhaust system/ exhaust manifold are stiff, or thread damaged:
- Replace rivet nuts in exhaust manifold.

- See Special Tools below.
- Flange connection of exhaust manifold or front exhaust pipes = 20 Nm

8 Install in the reverse order
