Moving Seat Back

Model 208 with CODE (275b) Memory package (driver's seat, rearview mirrors)

Function sequence, illustrated on driver's seat on vehicle with left-hand steering
The seat is located in the front-most end position, backrest folded forward and locked. Pulling the backrest release handle unlocks the backrest and actuates the left front seatback release microswitch (S91/3). The backrest can then be folded to the rear. Moreover, the front left seat adjustment control module (N32/1) actuates the seatback release motor (M27m8) so that the backrest then remains released even when the backrest release handle is released. If the backrest is then folded to the rear, the seat adjustment control module recognizes that the driver-side power seat switch (memory) (S91/2) opens and then actuates the front seat adjustment forward/back motor (MZ7m1) in the left front ESA motor group (M27) at speed stage 2. The seat moves toward the rear. Upon reaching the rear-most end position the seat adjustment control module switches off the front seat adjustment forward/back motor (M7m1) and the seatback release motor (M27m8). The rear-most end position is the starting position in which the seat was positioned before moving forward.
If the backrest release handle is no longer pulled, the head restraint returns to its initial position. This function is accomplished analogously on the passenger seat.

as of 6/98:
When the seat is in the front-most position and the steering wheel adjustment simultaneously in the rear-most position (steering wheel pulled out all the way) it is possible on vehicles up to 6/98 for the driver's seat backrest not to be locked when it is folded forward. In such cases it was not possible to fold the backrest back without previously pulling the backrest release handle. Result:
The seat return motion was not actuated. As of 6/98 the additional left front seat hibernation microswitch (S91/1s2) ensures that the seat is returned to the initial position even in this situation. This microswitch (normally open contacts) is connected in parallel with the left front seatback release microswitch (S91/3). It is actuated when the backrest is folded back causing the seat to move back.

NOTE: Hibernation: non-actuated state
