INSTALLATION OF CELLULAR TELEPHONE (CTEL) SYSTEM

A. Installing Transceiver (mobile phone).





1. Remove left trunk liner panel. Install four (4) rubber pads on the transceiver u-bracket. Secure transceiver to plate using u-bracket and three (3) M4 x 10 screws and nuts. The 25-pole and coax connectors must be at the opposite end of the support leg, with the 25-pole connector closest to the mounting plate (Figure 1).





2. Connect the 25-pole and antenna connectors to the transceiver (Figure 2).

3. Install transceiver/bracket assembly from behind the sound system mount inserting three (3) bracket studs through the holes in the mount. Secure with three (3) MG nuts, (Figure 2). Reinstall trunk liner panel.

B. Installing Booster and Portable Electronics Module (portable phone).

1. Remove the left trunk liner panel, and locate 25-pole connector, coax cable from front center console and integrated antenna cable (passes through grommet in fender).





2. Secure booster to mounting plate using three (3) M 4 x 10 screws and nuts. The 25-pole connector faces downward (Figure 3).

3. Secure the PSE module to the plate using four (4) M 4 x 6 machine screws through the plate into threaded inserts in module. The 25-pole connector faces up.

4. Connect the 25-pole connector labeled "PSE" to portable electronics module, and 25 pole connector labeled "Booster" to the 3-watt booster (Figure 3).

5. Connect coax cable from antenna to booster connector labeled "Antenna".

6. Connect coax cable from console to booster connector adjacent to the 25-pole connector. DO NOT REVERSE CONNECTIONS IN STEPS 5 and 6.

7. Connect 25-pole pre-wire harness connector to 25-pole pigtail from booster and PSE module.

8. Position the plate behind the sound system mount. The extruded plate foot is located in the lower most hole. Secure with three (3) M 6 nuts.

C. Installing Microphone

1. Remove dome lamp assembly.





2. Measure and mark hole locations as per dimensions in illustrations (Figure 4).

3. Using microphone base as a template, carefully punch hole locations (a) and (b) to 4 mm using an awl (Figure 4).

4. Enlarge forward hole (a, Figure 4) to 8 mm so that the microphone connector can pass through. Pass microphone connector and cable through enlarged opening. Secure microphone base to headliner with 3 x 10 screw. Fasten back of screw with with speed nut. Pull microphone cable completely through opening. Place 2 fingers over microphone mounting base from above the headliner. Snap, microphone onto base evenly. Do not latch one side first.

5. Connect one end of pre-amp cable (wrapped in anti-static foam) to microphone cable, the other end to the vehicle cable.

6. Reinstall dome lamp.

D. Installing En-dash control module

1. Remove the radio.





2. Push down on the release tab at the top rear center of the storage compartment located beneath the radio. At the same time, apply pressure from the rear of the box to remove.

3. Locate the 10 pole RJ45 connector and connect to the DC.

4. Slide the assembly into the opening until it locks into place.

5. Reinstall the radio.

E. Installing Handset

1. Remove the upper storage box by gently lifting from the hinge area.





2. Place template into the box, then punch and drill two (2) cradle mounting holes FOR EITHER MOBILE OR PORTABLE CRADLES AS APPROPRIATE. Punch and drill 1.5" coil cord access hole at the rear of the box. Install grommet (Figure 6).

3. Secure the cradle using two (2) M 4 x 6 machine screws.

4. Reinstall the storage box.

5. Route the coil cord through the hole at the rear of the box into the lower section.

6. Remove the wiring access cover from the bottom of the lower compartment, and connect the 10 pole RJ45 connector (mobile and portable installations), and the coax cable (portable only).

7. Install the elevated floor into the lower section to conceal the wiring.

8. Fasten the coil cord retainer to the cradle, and insert the coil cord.





9. Program telephone and test function.
