D. Water Entry at Mirror Triangle

In the case of leakage at the mirror triangle, water will exit at the door panelling in the area of the mirror cover (Figure 1).

Possible causes:

^ Incorrect contact pressure in area of mirror triangle.

^ Insufficient transition between mirror triangle and window (Figure 2).

Repair procedure:

1. Check window adjustment, correct if necessary (see SMS, Job no. 72-195, section B).

2. Remove left or right front door panel (see SMS, Job no. 88-800, section B).

3. Remove screw on mirror triangle (Figure 3).

4. Remove rubber sleeve and loosen nut (Figure 4).

5. Loosen nut (arrow, Figure 5). Using a plastic wedge or piece of wood on the threaded bolt, carefully push guide rail upward until the weatherstrip between the mirror triangle and the window pane edge are aligned (arrows, Figure 2).

6. Tighten nut and press on rubber sleeve.

7. Tighten screw on mirror triangle.

8. Install door panel.

9. Perform water leak test.

NOTE!
If leak cannot be sealed after adjusting the window, the weatherstrip at the A-pillar must be built up.

10. Mark position "B" on the A-pillar, measured 50 mm upward from mirror triangle (Figure 6).

11. Peel off weatherstrip from A-pillar, in area of mirror triangle.

12. Fabricate a 160 mm by 13 mm backing (1) from part number 124 778 O1 97. Shorten cut strip (2) to 120 mm and glue it to backing (1), maintaining dimension "C" at 20 mm.

13. Glue fabricated backing onto rail beginning at marked position "B" against outside corner (Figure 6).

14. Reinstall weatherstrip on A-pillar.

15. Perform water leak test.
