On all models produced after August 1, 1995, water-borne paint is applied as a base coat. All metallic and solid color paint finishes have a clear coat. The water-borne paint can be identified by the letter "H - on the chassis identification plate (2, Figure 1).

2. WATER-BORNE PAINT APPLICATION IDENTIFICATION ON SINDELFINGEN PRODUCED VEHICLES

As an alternative, either the letter "F" or "M" together with a blue tape dot located near the identification plate on the radiator crossmember, was also used to indicate use of water-borne paint applications on Sindelfingen produced vehicles.

Effective April 14,1993, the use of the blue tape dot as an identifier for water-borne paint application on Sindelfingen produced vehicles has ceased.

However, the identification of water-borne paint application via the letter "H" on the chassis identification plate remains valid.
