NOTE: On air bag equipped vehicles, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts, Service Precautions, and/or refer to the Air Bag disarming procedure(s) under Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems).
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove bracket for oil filler pipe at cylinder head.
3. Press off ball socket and unhook control pressure cable, then remove engine throttle control shaft.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Remove transverse yoke center assembly attaching bolts.
6. Drain transmission fluid from transmission and torque converter.
7. Remove plastic cover for driver plate of torque converter.
8. Remove six driver plate to torque converter attaching bolts.
9. Insert a block of wood between engine oil pan and transverse yoke.
11. Disconnect exhaust system at plug connections, then disconnect system at rear suspension and suspend with wire.
12. Remove transverse along with rear engine mount.
13. Remove kickdown solenoid valve cable attaching bolt, then release cable strap.
14. Remove pulse generator attaching bolts, then pulse generator.
