From 3/94 (As of HHT Diagnosis Version 45)

The engine control module is equipped with a version coding feature as of 3/94. The coding can only be performed with the Hand-Held Tester (automatically or manually, see Hand-Held Tester) upon installation of a new control module. Hand-Held Tester (HHT)

The following vehicle versions must be observed for coding:
- Vehicle model,
- Catalytic converter (TWC),
- Non-catalytic converter (non-TWC),
- 5-speed manual transmission,
- 5-speed automatic transmission,
- 4-speed automatic transmission,
- Cruise control (CC),
- Acceleration slip regulation (ASR),
- Electronic traction system (ETS),
- Country version.
