Remove/Install Oil Pump

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

Removal
1. Remove oil pan.
2. Unscrew bolt (1) of oil pump gear (6).
3. Pull off oil pump drive gear (7) at oil pump (6).

NOTE:
^ Install oil pump drive gear (7) with convex face pointing toward oil pump (6) (arrows).
^ Pay attention to position of tensioning bar relative to oil pump chain.

4. Remove oil pump bolts + washers (2) and (3).
5. Remove oil pump to front.

Installation
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
Clean oil strainer screen
Tighten the following components to:
Oil Pump Drive Gear: 32 Nm
Oil Pump To Crankcase:
6 mm Bolts: 9 Nm
8 Mm Bolts: 25 Nm
Oil Pump Deflector Plate: 10 Nm
Oil Pump Cover: 10 Nm

CAUTION Fill oil pump with engine oil before installing.

NOTE: An oil pump with hollow gear shaft to prevent oil buzz after cold start up to about 2000 rpm has been installed in production as of engine number.
