To avoid distortion of upper control arm support on torsion bar during removal, installation or when raising vehicle, do not place jack support against frame floor. Place support against lower control arm. rubber mounts on torsion bar bearing may vary at front wall to compensate body tolerances. During installation, ensure rubber mounts are returned to their original locations to avoid changes in front wheel caster. Mount and tighten torsion bar bearing on front end and support of upper control arm on torsion bar only in position in which vehicle is ready for driving. Lubricate hex socket attaching screw on torsion bar prior to assembly.1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels.
2. Remove lower engine compartment cover.
3. On models equipped with ADS, remove control rod from torsion bar lever.
4. Remove brackets from left and righthand sides of control arm.
5. Remove bracket from spring bracket, then torsion bar and rubber bushings through side engine compartment.
6. On models equipped with ADS, proceed as follows:
a. Loosen Allen bolt and remove clamp from torsion bar.
b. Pull sleeve bushing from linkage rod.
c. Remove linkage from torsion bar.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
