Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Service and Repair



Remove/install Track Rod, Replace Rubber Mount

CAUTION: Installation: Replace self-locking nuts

DANGER:
- Risk of fatal accident from vehicle slipping or toppling off the lift platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.


Check rear axle tracking and adjust if necessary

NOTE: Following installation

4 Track rod

CAUTION:
- Do not damage rubber boot.
- The rear axle shaft must be horizontal when tightening the nuts
- Clean grease off ball head bolt and beveled seat in wheel carrier.
- Press ball head bolt into cone, hold with Alien wrench if necessary.


4a Cam bolt

NOTE: Installed position: Mark cam bolt relative to rear axle carrier (arrow)

4B Rubber mount on track rod

NOTE: If necessary after checking, Remove and install rubber mount on track rod

20a Detach, attach bracket, If present
20B Unclip, clip in rear axle speed sensor line, If present

NOTE: Right-hand side additional line for brake pad wear indicator.
