Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

Replacement
Refer to the illustrations when servicing, noting the following:
- Replace rivet nuts in exhaust manifold, if necessary as follows.
a. Use a suitable bolt (arrow) to knock rivet nuts out of the holes in the exhaust manifold.
NOTE: Screw bolt in by hand only.
b. Insert new rivet nut into hole of the exhaust manifold.
Caulking Bolt:
c. Screw in caulking bolt and tighten to about 30 Nm.
- When installing gaskets:
Apply dots of sealing compound to facilitate installation.
Insert gaskets with metal side facing toward cylinder head.
NOTE: As of 1.1.94 the exhaust manifold has been modified. In order to reach the operating temperature more quickly, an exhaust manifold in a double-wall design (insulated by an air gap) is installed.
