Oil Cooler: Testing and Inspection

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

1. Remove and clean oil-to-coolant heat exchanger.





2. Seal air-tight opening (2).
3. Connect tester (1).
4. Pressurize oil-to-coolant heat exchanger with tester (1) to about 1.3 bar
5. Immerse oil-to-coolant heat exchanger in tank with warm water.
6. Inspect oil-to-coolant heat exchanger for any air bubbles flowing out.

NOTE: Air bubbles indicate a leak; pinpoint more accurately where the air bubbles come from.
If a leak exists, replace oil to coolant heat exchanger.
