Fan Clutch Assembly

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

Replacement
1. Remove fan shroud.





2. Remove locking pin (18).
3. Turn fan shroud ring (6) to the left, place over fan (2).
4. Fit on counter holder (1) tool No. 120 589 02 01 00, or equivalent.
5. Unbolt viscous fan clutch (3) with fan (2) with hexagon insert (7) 103 589 01 00 and torque wrench (8) 001 589 72 21 00, or equivalents, and remove.
6. Unbolt viscous fan clutch (3) at fan (2).
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- The cast part number of the fan (2) must be positioned at the front (radiator side).
- When installing, ensure that the 4 engaging studs (arrows) of the fan shroud ring (6) are correctly located in the fan shroud.
- Tighten larger viscous fan clutch (3) at fan (2) bolt to 45 Nm and the smaller bolts to 10 Nm.
