Console - (Center) Switches Loose

MODELS 124, 129 AND 140 SWITCHES IN CENTER CONSOLE LOOSE
The following repair method is provided for cases in which the plastic frame (2) holding the switches has separated from the wood cover (1), or its installation tabs have broken oft (Figure 1).
NOTE:
For model 140, the plastic frame (middle), part no. 140 680 01 34 please make a note of this prior to beginning work on that model is no longer available.
Procedure
1. Remove gear shift lever cover (1, Figure 2), disconnect and remove all switches from wood cover (See SMS, model 124: Electrical system I;
model 129: Electrical system I;
model 140: Electrical system
2. Remove plastic frame (2) from wood cover (1) by prying it off with a screwdriver (Figure 3).
3. Using a 2 mm bit, drill 10 holes into the new plastic frame, part number 129 683 03 00. Refer to Figure 4 for location of holes.
4. Countersink holes from underside of plastic frame (2) by hand with a 5 mm drill bit (Figure 5).
5. Place plastic frame (2) on wood cover (1) and locate the exact position front and back by installing the respective switches (Figure 6).
6. Using a 1.5 mm bit, drill holes for screws in wood cover (1). Use the plastic frame (2) as template and drill holes only 3 mm deep (arrow, Figure 6).
Hint:
Use of a drill depth gauge is recommended when drilling the 1.5 mm holes to a depth of 3 mm into the wood cover.
7. Fasten plastic frame (2) on wood cover (1) with screws, part number 124 990 00 30 (arrows, Figure 7).
8. Reinstall switches and wood cover (1).
