With Code (471a) ASR

Throttle Control Components:

1. Remove the air filter.

^ Check the throttle rods and Bowden cable for smoothness of operation and damaged parts. Replace as necessary.

2. Release the tension on the control cable (30) by adjusting the screw (29) until spring (26) has approx. 3/16 in. (5 mm) play.
3. Loosen clamping screws on the connecting rod (21) and connecting rods (50 and 51).

^ Verify that the throttle valve lever rests against the idle speed stop on the throttle valve housing.

4. Switch the ignition (ON).
5. With the servo-unit in the idle position tighten the clamping screw of the connecting rod (21).
6. Switch the ignition (OFF).
7. Move lever (52) and (53) against the corresponding idle stop (74 and 75) on the accelerator pedal position sensor (R25). Be sure that the levers remain in contact with the idle stops!
8. Rotate lever (8) in clockwise direction until connecting rod (20) is completely extended.
9. Adjust connecting rod (50) by shoving the loosened lock screw (91) as far in the direction of the accelerator pedal position sensor until the stop pin (92) sits adjacent to the lengthwise hole in the stop. Tighten the locking bolt (91).
10. Adjust connecting rod (51) by pushing the lever (90) lightly to the stop at lever (8). In this position tighten the lock screw (91).
11. Adjust screw (43) until the tips of the arrows align exactly.

WIDE OPEN THROTTLE

12. With the ignition (ON) and the engine (OFF) depress the accelerator pedal to the kickdown switch (S30/2) (kickdown switch not actuated).

^ Verify that the lever (53) is resting against the full throttle stop (76) on the accelerator position sensor (R25) without tension. If necessary adjust screw (29) to attain the correct setting.

IDLE

13. Let the accelerator pedal return to the idle position. There should be no play in the compression spring (26). If necessary adjust nut (32) so that the play at the spring (26) is just taken up.
