Camshaft Timing Adjuster - Revised Mounting Bolts

SUBJECT: ENGINES 104.980/981 MOUNTING BOLTS FOR CAMSHAFT TIMING ADJUSTER

As of 5/91 and the effective serial numbers below, the mounting bolts (item 15a, Figures 1 and 2) for the camshaft timing adjuster have been modified. Torx screw T30 is now used (item 15c [M7 x 13.5], Figures 1 and 2) instead of the previous hex. head screw (M7 x 11.6).

When performing repairs requiring the removal of the camshaft timing adjuster, use only the Torx screws (see table on page 2 for parts application).

Tightening Torque: 22 N-m

Note:
1. Hex. head screw (15a, Figure 2) is not to be reinstalled during repairs.
2. Torx screw T30 (15b, Figure 2) to be used as replacement of Hex. head screw (15a, Figure 2).
3. If originally equipped with Torx screw T30 (15c, Figure 2), must be replaced with same.
