Cleaning/Sealing Main Oil Gallery
Cleaning1. Remove crankshaft.
2. Knock in front plug (2) on one side with the screwdriver and press out.
3. Knock out rear steel ball (5) with round bar (6) (approximately. 11 mm diameter, length 750 mm)
4. Clean oil galleries.
Sealing
Front Main Oil Gallery
1. Clean main oil galleries.
2. Coat new plugs (2) around circumference with Loctite 270 high strength 002 989 93 71 10, or equivalent.
3. Knock in new plugs (2) with drift 102 589 12 15 00 until tool makes contact.
Rear Main Oil Gallery With Steel Ball
1. Knock in steel ball 2 mm deeper than originally with drift 102 589 0715 00 so that steel ball is provided with a new seat in the 14.75 diameter bore.
NOTE:
^ This method is only successful if no leak existed beforehand as a result of porosity in crankcase oil gallery (ball seat).
^ The steel ball must be free of damage and oust.
Rear Main Oil Gallery With Screw Plug
1. Widen rear main oil gallery (4) by drilling (16 mm diameter, depth about 15 mm).
2. Tap in M18 x 1.5 thread end of main oil gallery (4).
3. Thoroughly blow out (swarf) of oil galleries.
4. Remove grease from thread and screw plug (7).
5. Coat M18 x 1.5 screw plug (7) with sealing adhesive 000 906 01 40 00. screw in and tighten.
