Cooling System Drain and Refill

DRAINING
- Remove lower engine cover.

Warning:
Do Not open pressure cap until coolant temperature is below 90°C (194° F).

- Open pressure cap on expansion tank in stages.





- Open flap on front left of bumper, fit a hose (inner diameter 12 mm) (2) onto the connection and open drain tap (1).
- Drain coolant into a suitable container (approx. 4 liters).





- Drain coolant at the crankcase by fitting a hose (inner diameter 14 mm) onto the drain plug and loosening the plug slightly.
- Drain coolant into a suitable container (approx. 4 liters).
- Tighten drain plug (110) at crankcase.
^ Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ft lbs)

FILLING
- Detach vent line at expansion tank.
- Fill with coolant mix to the markings on the expansion tank.
- Refit vent line at expansion tank.

If Vehicle fitted With Auxiliary Heater:
- Take off cap, unscrew vent screw slightly until no air flows out.
- Repeat operation several times as necessary to remove all air from auxilary heater system.

- Switch on heater and run engine until warm and thermostat opens.
- Following this, top off coolant to the marking on the expansion tank.

NOTE: Replace cap on expansion tank from a coolant temperature of approx. 60-70° C (140-158° F).

- Check cooling system for leaks.
- Check and correct coolant level after engine has cooled down.
