SUBJECT: REPLACING WEATHERSTRIPS ON INSIDE OF SOFT TOP, LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES MODEL 129

Note: The locating piece of the modified weatherstrip must be cut off for installation of earlier version vehicles up to chassis end number 012884 (arrow, Figure 1).
Figure 2:
1. Place soft top in upwards position (Figure 2).
2. Remove weatherstrips (13) from rails (15), remove screws (14) and rails.
Note: previous version (screws from outside)(Figure 2).

3. Remove screws and rails (Figure 3).
Note: current version (screws from inside).
Figure 4:
4. Place (at least 3) retaining clamps, part number 129 779 03 70, on rails (Figure 4).
Repair note:
On vehicles with the previous version rails, the modified weatherstrip must be pressed approximately 150 mm from the front into the rail.
On vehicles with the modified version rails up to chassis end number 012884 (Figure 3), the weatherstrip can be pressed fully into the rail.
5. Seal the weatherstrip end at the front area of the rail using MB-Universal sealant, part number 003 989 01 71.

6. Fill opening (between arrows, Figure 5) with MBUniversal sealant.

On vehicles as of chassis end number 012885, the modified version rails are installed.
Seal weatherstrip in the area of the removed crosspiece (arrow, Figure 1) to rail using MB-Universal sealant (Figure 6).
Note: The rails and corresponding soft top components are not interchangeable between versions.
Modified version only:
7. Fasten rails on side of soft top.

8. Assisted by a second person, fasten rails on side of soft top (Figure 7).
9. Install weatherstrips (13) into rails (15) and close soft top (Figure 7).

10. Check for smooth transition of weatherstrips between A-pillar and soft top (arrow, Figure 8), and weatherstrips between corner of side window and soft top (arrow, Figure 9). Loosen and adjust rails, if necessary.
11. Test for water leaks.
