Note: Vehicles with a red paint dot on top of the windshield washer reservoir do not need to be checked.

1. Pull electrical plug (1, Figure 1) from washer reservoir level indicator.
2. Unscrew knurled nut and washer (2). Lift out reservoir.
3. Unclip hose clamp (3).

5. Open cap and turn washer pump (4, Figure 2) upwards to free hose from guide, (do not remove heater coil completely).
6. Pull thermostat locating pin (5, Figure 3) out of guide.
7. Slip out heater coil (6) below washer pump.
8. Completely remove heater.
9. Check retaining nut (7) with a magnet. If the retaining nut is not attracted by the magnet, reinstall the removed parts in reverse sequence.
10. If the retaining nut is attracted by the magnet or if corrosion is visible, replace heater.
Note: Relieve coolant pressure by opening the cap of the expansion tank.
11. Loosen both hose claim on heater hose. Pull heater from hose and flush reservoir.
12. Install new heater.
13. For further installation, follow steps 1-7 in reverse order.
14. Fill reservoir with suggested ratio of concentrate "S" and water or premix depending upon season (see S.I.MBNA 82/23b, Oct. 1987). Activate washer pump until fluid squirts from washer nozzles.
15. Only on vehicles where engine coolant leaked out from windshield washer heater:
Renew coolant with antifreeze and check cooling system for leaks.
Important: Mark checked/repaired vehicles with a red paint dot on top of the windshield washer reservoir.
