Transfer Case - Checking, Correcting Oil Level
Note: The vehicle must be level to check the oil.
Check transfer case for leakage before checking oil level.
Screw out oil filler plug (arrow), tightening torque 50 Nm.
Check oil level. Oil level is okay when small quantity of oil runs out or when oil level reaches up to bottom edge of thread in filler hole, add oil, if required.
Caution! If more than 50 cm3 of oil runs out of the filler hole, this indicates that the multi-plate clutch is leaking (front drive or central lock).
Check oil level in oil reservoir (front left in engine compartment).
Repair or replace transfer case on separate order.
Note: In the event of high oil loss, determine cause and eliminate on separate order.
Fluid Type Dexron II-D or equivalent.
