Vehicles With Upshift Delay (TWC Heating)

1 Control pressure cable
2 Check Valve
3 Engine intake manifold
7 2nd mode program vacuum actuator
8 Upshift delay vacuum actuator
9 Vacuum reservoir
N3/1 LH-SFI control module
N3/4 Engine control module (HFM-SFI)
N3/6 PEC control module
S16/5 Transmission mode switch
S16/7 Kickdown switch (transmission mode)
Y3 Kickdown valve (AT)
Y3/3 Upshift delay switchover valve
Y4 Transmission mode switchover valve

NOTE: Phased in as of 07/93 a standardized control pressure cable has been fined in the body. The control pressure cable with 2 vacuum actuators in the plastic housing is also used for the transmission which does not need the two vacuum actuators. The vacuum actuator with selector program (7) should be sealed with a blind plug (5) to prevent contamination. The vent connection is to provided with a cap (6).

6 Cap
7 Vacuum actuator with selector program
8 Vacuum actuator with upshift delay

Removing and Installing (with upshift delay)

1. Turn locking plate (arrow) upwards.
2. Swing control pressure cable with vacuum actuator away from transmission housing and disconnect.

3. Perform basic setting:
Transfer distances "a" and "b" from old control pressure cable to new cable.
a) Distance "a": Measure and adjust position c; adjusting screw (11).
b) Apply > 400 mbar vacuum to Vacuum actuator (7).
c) Compress control pressure cable and then extend again.
d) Distance "b": Measure position of slide (2) and adjust at adjusting screw (10).

4 Fit cap (12).

CAUTION: Risk of water penetration!

5 Pull out valve (2) using a hook until it engages in the assembly position.
6 Hook control pressure cable with vacuum element into transmission and install. Ensure that it is correctly engaged!

Checking Upshift Delay

1 Connect the two vacuum lines to upshift delay switchover valve (Y3/3). Upshift delay is activated.
2 Check on a road test in selector lever position "D" and low throttle.

NOTE:
- Turn adjusting screw (11) clockwise: shift point at lower speed.
- Turn adjusting screw (11) anti-clockwise shift point at higher speed.
