Unusual Shifting or Engagement Quality After Repairs

Cause:
Possible incorrect replacement parts installed due to an error in reading parts information footnotes.

Remedy:
Refer to the following examples of parts information footnotes to assist in correctly identifying relevant transmission series.

It is critical to identify the two center digits of the complete transmission number when specifying replacement parts.

Example Of Parts Microfiche Footnotes:

Example A: Transmission 722.409-02-813790

Footnotes for Example A will have the transmission series (*4O9*) and only the last six digits of the complete transmission number. No reference to the two center digits is given.

The absence of a number placed ahead of the last six digits indicates a transmission with the numbers 02 as the center two digits.

Example B: Transmission 722.418-03-015839

Footnotes for Example B will have the transmission series (*418*) followed by the number 3 (arrow, Figure 1) and then the last six digits of complete transmission number.

Note:
- The number 3 placed ahead of the last six digits indicates the number O3 as the two center digits in the complete transmission number.
- As of approx. 10/94, it is possible to have the number 04 in the two center digits.

Observing critical attention to the two center digits of the transmission number when reading parts information footnotes will ensure receiving and installing correct replacement parts.
