Dismantling and Assembling

1. Remove snap ring (11).

Installation Note
After inserting, press snap ring upwards around entire circumference using a screwdriver.

2. Tilt outside disc carrier (1) and remove discs. Check inside discs for scorching and wear (reference thickness 2 mm).

Installation Note
Note sequence of clutch discs. Assemble discs as described in transmission diagram. Before installing, immerse in ATF for approx. 1 hour.

3. Attach assembly device (020) to spring seat and clamp unit snap ring (5) is accessible. Remove snap ring.

Installation Note
Check that snap ring is correctly seated after installation.

4. Remove spring seat (4) and compression springs (3).

Installation Note
Note number of return compression springs and ensure that each spring is centered by one guide lug on the spring seat.

5. Pull plunger (2) out of outside disc carrier (1).

NOTE: Check O-ring between outside disc carrier and plunger guide ring for leaks. To do this, fill the plunger guide ring with a little kerosene or benzine. Then observe whether the fluid leaks out. In the event of leaks, replace the outside disc carrier.

Installation Note

Check sealing rings (12, 13) for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Insert sealing rings (12, 13) ensuring that the rings are not twisted and that they point downwards (in direction of arrow).

Place inserter on outside disc carrier (1). Lubricate inserter, (021) and sealing rings (12, 13) with ATF and then carefully insert plunger (2) into outside disc carrier. Press down plunger without tilting, while rotating plunger gently.

6. Determine clearance "A" using a feeler gauge. Adjust clearance to 0.7 - 1.3 mm.

NOTE: Adjust clearance "A" using the snap ring available in 3 thicknesses (2.0, 2.5, 3.0 mm). The groove for the snap ring is 3.2 mm wide. If the specified clearance "A" is not achieved using the snap ring (11), the middle outside discs must also be used to correct the clearance.
