Replacing supporting joint
Preceding work
Removing and installing control arm.
REMOVAL
1. Clamp press-out tool (011) tool 107 589 01 43 00 in vise and fit sleeve (011a). Attach control arm.
2. Press out supporting joint with sleeve (011b)
Note: The ball joint (7c) are maintenance-free, i.e. they are provided with lifetime lubrication. For this reason ball joints must be inspected carefully. If dirt enters through a damaged boot (7f), this will lead to premature wear of the ball joint.
3. Place support (011c) on press-in tool.
4. Insert support joint (7) into control arm eye so that the mark on the supporting joint (arrow) is aligned with the center of the control arm (arrow). Place thrust piece (011d) on supporting joint and press in supporting joint. Again check that the supporting joint and rubber boot are correctly seated. Touch up any paint damage on the control arm.
