Removing, Installing and Checking Play Compensator

Version with End Cover (Model 124 and 201, except 124.034/036):




- Unscrew Screw plug. Screw in for center position (35-40 Nm). Rotate steering worm until the power piston is approximately at left or right lock.
- Remove locking ring (75), thrust ring (74) and locking ring (73). When installing, ensure the locking rings are correctly seated.
- Remove end cover (71), spring (70), spring pin (69) and bush (68) from steering gear housing.
- Replace 0-ring on end cover (71).
- Measure length of Compression Ring. Minimum length 18.5 - 19.5 mm; replace compression spring if length is less than minimum.
- Examine spring pin (69) for signs of wear, replace if necessary.
