UNNECESSARY REPLACEMENT OF POWER STEERING PUMPS
ALL MODELS
It has come to our attention that there are frequent, unnecessary replacements of leaking power steering pumps.
Prior to replacement of a power steering pump, check the following criteria:
- If the line/hose connections or the cover are leaking, check that the connections are properly secured and tightened. If retightening the high pressure hose does not alleviate the leak, check the connection fitting for damage and replace the hose if necessary.
- If a film of oil appears on the radial sealing ring or the housing/cover mating surface, Do NOT replace the power steering pump. Wipe the film of oil away to contain it from spreading. Replace power steering pump only when a severe leaking problem can be confirmed (i.e. droplets).
Please pay attention to the above mentioned criteria prior to replacing a power steering pump.
Warranty claims for replacement of leaking power steering pumps will be reviewed more carefully in the future.
