On Steering Wheel until Introduction of Contact Spiral (06/93)

Removal:





- Disarm SRS system.
- Remove steering wheel and air bag.
- Remove cable (55), with the rubber sleeve in the impact absorber (54).
- Disconnect cables (58) and remove from the rubber sleeve in the impact absorber (54).
- Unscrew screws (65).
- On steering wheel version design 124, unscrew the 4 outer Torx socket bolts (66) (do not loosen center screw), remove impact absorber (54).
- Remove wiper ring (70).





NOTE: When replacing the steering wheel it is essential to note which special equipment is fitted:

- 2 brass contact rings = standard (= horn rings)
- 4 brass contact rings = airbag
- 2 brass contact rings + 1 steering angle magnet ring (arrow) = 4MATIC, ADS
- 4 brass contact rings + 1 steering angle magnet ring (arrow) = Air Bag, ADS, 4MATIC

Installation:
- Install wiper ring (70) at steering wheel.
- On steering wheel version design 124, install impact absorber (54), screw in the 4 outer Torx socket bolts (66).
- Screw in screws (65).
- Insert cables (58) in the rubber sleeve in the impact absorber (54) and connect.
- Connect cable (55).
- Install steering wheel.
