Remedy:
The complaint "Fuel Pump Noisy" must be separated into 2 categories: a) Humming Noise and b) Whirring Noise.

a) Humming Noise in interior of Vehicle

1. Check condition and routing of fuel lines.

2. Check screen in fuel distributor inlet port for contamination (high back pressure increases noise level).

3. Replace fuel pump. Modified version pump as of production date 642.

Note:
In case of repairs on model 201.024, the fuel pump, part no. 002 091 97 01, should always be installed.

b) Whirring Noise

1. Replace fuel pump (worn out).

2. If this does not eliminate the problem, remove drain plug with filter in fuel tank and check for dirt deposits.
