SUBJECT:
Revised Injection Valve Test
M102, M103, M104, M116/117, M119
Included in this service information is the revised Injection Valve Test for the above-mentioned gasoline engines.
Before replacing any fuel injectors, they must be tested according to the procedures. It is extremely important to use the proper test fluid as described on the first page of the test procedure (see Notes). Failure to use the correct fluid will alter the results of the test (kerosene is no longer approved).
Fuel injectors returned to warranty will be periodically tested. If no defect is found in the injectors, they will be returned to the dealer and the dealer's warranty reimbursement account will be debited.
These revised tests will also be issued in a future supplement to the Diagnostic Manual, Volume 2 (Supplement # 22).
Notes:
Before testing injection valves, fill container of tester with clean test fluid (e.g. Shell Mineral Spirits 135) and bleed tester.
Caution!
Never use normal gasoline or other easily flammable/combustible fluids in valve tester.
Only injection valves which do not meet specifications must be replaced. Always install new seals when reinstalling the injection valves.
