Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

Automatic Climate Control System Components:





Removing the Evaporator from the Heater-A/C box:

Remove Heater-A/C Box. Service and Repair

Removing The Fastening Clips:





1. Remove the ten fastening clips (arrows).

Removing The Heater-A/C Box Cover:





2. Screw out the 4 screws (17) and remove the cover (19).

Removing The Heater Core:





3. Unclip the hose clamps (22 and 23) on the heater hoses.
4. Push off the connecting rod for the fresh air/recirculated air flap (arrow).
5. Remove the three screws (20) and remove the vacuum actuator (42).
6. Pull the heater core (9) upward and out.

Removing The Left And Right Mounting Screws:





7. Remove the two screws (arrow) on the left and right sides.

Unclipping The Joint For The Leg Room Flap:





8. Pull the right side slightly out and unclip the joint for the leg room flap (arrow).

Removing The Upper Section Of The Heater-A/C Box:





9. Pull out and remove both sides.
10. Unclip the three clips (arrows) on each side of the heater-A/C box and remove the upper section.

Removing The Remaining Clamps On The Heater-A/C Box:





11. Unclip the three clamps (arrows) on each side of the heater-A/C box and the one clamp (arrow) in the center

Removing The Retainer Clip:





12. Press out the retainer clip (arrow).

Removing The Evaporator Core:





13. Pry the evaporator (4) out of the heater-A/C box.

INSTALLATION:

1. Remove the screen (23) from the old evaporator and glue into place on the new evaporator.
2. Clean the inside of the evaporator housing.
3. Position evaporator in the heater-A/C box.
4. Remove the expansion valve off of the old evaporator and install, with new O-rings, on the new evaporator.

Install the heater-A/C box. Service and Repair
