Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation of Condenser

A. Engine 102 up to 12/88, engine 103 upto 08/89




- Empty air conditioner (recycling).
- Remove radiator.
- Unscrew nut (53).
- Remove pipeline (4) and hoseline (68) on condenser.
- Slacken clip (34).
- Unclip both clamps (32) and remove condenser upwards.
- Remove auxiliary fan. Service and Repair
- Reinstall in reverse order. Moisten connection thread with compressor oil.
- Replace fluid reservoir.
- Evacuate and recharge air conditioner, check for proper function and leakage, allow engine to idle only in the first 4 minutes.

Tightening torques (Nm)
Pipeline (4) on condenser 29-37
Hoseline (68) on condenser 15-18

Note: If the condenser is not reinstalled immediately, blow out condenser with nitrogen. Then plug connections with plugs. When replacing condenser, fill with 20 cm3 of compressor oil.

Caution! Parts which have come into contact with compressor oil for R12 or R134a may only be installed in systems operating with the same refrigerant.


B. Engine 102 89 of 01/89




- Empty air conditioner (recycling).
- Remove radiator.
- Unscrew nut (53).
- Detach 2-pole plug connection (X64/4).
- Remove pipeline (4) and hoseline (68) on condenser.
- Unclip both clips (32) and remove condenser upwards.
- Remove auxiliary fan. Service and Repair
- Install in reverse sequence. Lubricate connection thread with compressor oil.
- Renew fluid reservoir.
- Evacuate and recharge air conditioner, check for proper function and leakage, allow engine to idle only in the first 4 minutes.

Tightening torques (Nm)
Pipeline (4) on condenser 29-37
Hoseline (68) on condenser 15-18

C. Engine 103 as of 09/89, 104 and 119




- Empty air conditioner (recycling).
- Remove radiator.
- Unscrew nut (53).

- Remove auxiliary fan. Service and Repair
