F. Engine 120
Models 129,1401. Remove both air cleaners (4) and MAF sensors (5).
2. Remove air collector box (SMS, Job No.83-140) from behind component compartment wall.
3. Loosen cable duct (6) on component compartment wall.
4. Remove radiator cross member (seven bolts).
5. Remove radiator fan and fan shroud (SMS Job No. 20-3120).
6. Reclaim and recycle A/C refrigerant.
7. Release tension and remove poly-V-belt.
8. Remove lower engine compartment encapsulation panel.
9. Remove rubber buffers for air cleaner.
10. Slacken front engine mounts (12, SMS, Job No. 01-300). Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
11. Install engine carrier bracket (140 589 01 61 00), raise engine.
12. Disconnect torsion bar at forward mounts, Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
13. Disconnect and seal engine oil lines (13, 14) from engine oil filter housing.
14. Disconnect and seal engine oil lines and bracket from oil pan.
15. Disconnect and seal hydraulic lines on tandem pump.
16. Remove oil pressure sensor (B5).
Tightening torque: 15 Nm.
17. Remove screw securing suction/discharge line to manifold.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm.
18. Disconnect 3-pole connector (A9X1) on A/C compressor.
19. Remove suction/discharge line from engine block by removing bolt (9).
20. Remove bolts (7).
Tightening torque: 23 Nm.
21. Remove A/C compressor.
22. Remove manifold. Remove shipping plate from remanufactured unit only after releasing pressure via the schrader valve. Install manifold and new O-rings onto remanufactured unit.
23. Correct oil level in compressor (compensate for oil loss if additional components were replaced).
24. Reinstall in reverse sequence.
Note:
If clutch must also be replaced, see section H.
25. Replace receiver/drier (SMS, Job No. 83-540).
26. Evacuate and recharge A/C system. Run engine at idle for approximately four minutes and check for proper function and leaks (SMS, Job No. 83-508).
