Removal and Installation





Removing and installing coolant pump

Preceding work:
Tensioning device removed
Power steering pump (29) swiveled to the side with lines connected.
Air cleaner removed






Drain coolant at radiator and crankcase.

If level control fitted: remove cover (1).

If level control fitted: unscrew high tension distributor (2), tilt to the side with ignition cable connected.

Unscrew heating water return pipe (27) at coolant pump (4) and viscous fan bearing bracket, replace seal (28).

On vehicles with oil-water heat exchanger: unscrew cooling pipe (6) at coolant pump (4) and second intake manifold support, replace seal (7).

Remove coolant thermostat (3) replace seal (3a).

Disconnect coolant hoses (10) and (11).

Unscrew 30 M8 screws (5)

Installation note: Because of accessibility of coolant pump rear screws, remove from tapped holes with a rod magnet

Note: The coolant pump is located with two dowel sleeves (8)

Installation is reverse of removal.
