A. Models With Engines 103, 104

1. Lift vehicle.

2. Remove lower engine panel.

3. Drain engine coolant by first attaching a 14 mm inner diameter, 1500 mm long hose to the drain plug in the engine block and then loosening the plug. Drain coolant into a suitable container for reuse later.





4. Remove core plug (arrow, Figure 1 [rear-most plug]) with a 22 mm 6-point socket insert.





5. Install block heater (A, Figure 2) using rubber O-Ring from the installation kit and not the alloy washer supplied. Tighten block heater using a 46 mm socket.

Tightening torque: 70 Nm

6. Install heat shield (B, Figure 2) over block heater using two M6 x 15 mm screws and spring washers in the existing bores in the engine block.





7. Route and fasten the cable harness along the transmission cooler line using cable ties (arrows, Figure 3).

8. Close coolant drain plug.

Tightening torque: 30 Nm.

9. Reinstall lower engine panel.

10. Lower vehicle.

11. Route cable plug to a convenient location as per customer preference. Secure cable and plug with cable ties.

Note:
Ensure that cable is routed away from moving engine parts and sources of high heat.





12. Test coolant for sufficient antifreeze protection, refill and bleed cooling system. Pressure test system for leaks (Figure 4).

13. Run engine. Check for proper coolant level.
