B - Work Instructions
B. ENGINE 119 (MODEL 500 SL)1. Lift vehicle.
2. Remove encapsulation panel from below engine and left side encapsulation panel.
3. Drain engine coolant at lower right radiator drain fitting. Drain coolant into a suitable container for reuse later.

4. Remove air injection elbow below core plug (5 mm Allen screws) and move aside (2, Figure 5).
5. Remove core plug (behind A/C compressor) with a 22 inn 6-point socket insert.
6. Install block heater using the rubber O-ring from the installation kit and not the alloy washer supplied. Tighten block heater to 70 Nm using a 46 mm socket (1, Figure 5).
7. Route and fasten the cable harness along power steering hose using cable ties.
8. Reinstall air injection elbow.
9. Close coolant drain plug (tightening torque: 30 Nm).
10. Reinstall encapsulation panel.
11. Lower vehicle.
12. Pull cable harness up into engine compartment and attach remaining harness cable ties.
13. Test coolant for sufficient antifreeze protection, refill and bleed cooling system. Pressure test system for leaks.
14. Run engine. Check for proper coolant level.
