April 1990

TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

SUBJECT: RELACEMENT OF PRE-RESISTOR MODEL 124
Enclosed is a sample copy of a letter which all affected vehicle owners will receive in the near future.

This campaign is being initiated because it was found that under certain operating conditions (e.g. A/C on and certain engine coolant temperature) the plastic cover of the pre-resistor for the auxiliary fan may melt and possibly ignite the pre-resistor.

The pre-resistor, covered by a black plastic housing and used in the electrical circuit that operates the auxiliary fan, is installed in the below listed vehicles. This pre-resistor must be replaced, and an additional second metal cover installed according to the attached Work Instructions No. 251. Grp. 83.
