SUBJECT: INSTALLATION OF AIR SEPARATOR SYSTEM TO PREVENT GURGLING NOISES MODEL 124 WITH ENGINES 103 AND 104


Note: This Service Information includes specific production ranges that the repair procedure applies to.

This modification is intended to resolve the complaint "Gurgling Heater Core Noise" for vehicles produced from approx. 4/88 up to approx. 5/90 (see exact production ranges below). Such complaints are being resolved by installation of the "Gurgle Kit".

Please be informed that on vehicles other than listed below the heater core is of a different design. The cause of the noise is the presence of air in the coolant system, and the complaint can be corrected by proper bleeding (see Diagnostic Directory 2 Microfiche, topic 83-91011). Installation of the "Gurgle Kit" in those vehicles would not be beneficial, and in fact could cause other problems.

Refer to Work Instructions 245 from S.I. MBNA 83/33, August 1990, for all details of the "Gurgle Kit" job procedure, as well as a listing of all necessary parts.
