Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair

300D, E & TE & 1989 300CE

On 1990-91 models, dual fans are installed.
1. Disable airbag system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING & DISARMING.
2. Disconnect fan electrical connector.
3. Loosen fan harness cable bands and pull to slacken.
4. Remove lower fan bracket attaching bolts.
5. Remove fan grille attaching clips.
6. Remove upper radiator support attaching bolts and position aside.
7. Remove fan grille attaching screws, then remove.
8. Remove fan attaching bolt, then remove.
9. Reverse ti install.

300SEL & 1989-91 300SE

The 1990-91 models, are equipped with dual fans.
1. Disable airbag system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING & DISARMING.
2. Disconnect fan electrical connector located on LH front of radiator support.
3. Loosen A/C hose harness strap.
4. Remove upper radiator support and lower support to crossmember attaching screws.
5. Remove radiator stiffener strut to radiator support attaching bolt.
6. Remove fan grille bracket attaching screws, then remove grille and fan assembly.
7. Reverse to install.
