Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

1. Disable airbag system, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. On vehicles with manual transmission, disconnect hose and move toward master cylinder.
3. On all models, remove master cylinder, Fig. 3.
4. Disconnect vacuum line from brake booster.
5. Remove instrument panel lower cover assembly.
6. Loosen brake booster pushrod on brake pedal.
7. Remove attaching nuts, then the carrier.
8. Carefully remove brake booster from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
