Sunroof / Moonroof Frame: Service and Repair

Special Tools:

Removal
1 Remove tilting/sliding sun roof top panel.
2 Remove headlining
3 Remove control cable. Service and Repair





4 Unscrew tube on tilting/sliding sun roof frame rear and remove cover.





5 Pull off water drain hoses and remove screws.
6 Lower tilting/sliding sun roof frame at front and push in driving direction, extending the tube on tilting/sliding sun roof frame rear.

CAUTION: Wear protective gloves to eliminate any risk of injury when removing tilting/sliding sun roof frame caused by sliding carrier.

7 Remove tilting/sliding sun roof frame through rear door.


Installation





Shown with tilting/sliding sun roof retaining bracket removed

CAUTION: Prior to installing tilting/sliding sun roof frame, plug adjusting gauges part no. 124 589 17 21 00 left and 124 589 18 21 00 right into guide block (lateral guide) and groove in angular lifting arm.

Pull off adjusting gauges only following installation of tilting/sliding sun roof top panel.

8 Lift tilting/sliding sun roof frame through rear door opening into vehicle interior.

NOTE: When installing tilting/sliding sun roof frame make sure of perfect seal between frame and body.

9 Screw on tilting/sliding sun roof frame, paying attention to correct installation position of tube and water drain hoses.

NOTE: The two rear fastening screws have metric threads. To make sure that the tilting/sliding sun roof frame centers itself in relation to tilting/sliding sun roof cutout, tighten the two front fastening screws at left and right first.

10 Fasten tube to tilting/sliding sun roof frame rear and install cover.
11 For further installation proceed in reverse order.
