Headliner - Removal of One-Piece Unit

ONE-PIECE HEADLINER
As of January 1990 production, the previous headlining is replaced by a prefabricated one-piece headliner (Figure 1). Vehicles equipped with a sunroof receive the one-piece headliner as of January 1991.
The headliner can be removed or installed through the right front door, without removal of the rear window. It is available in three different colors.
Procedure:
1. Remove door frame edge protection at all four doors.
2. Remove windshield moldings at A-pillars (see job number 68-405).
3. Remove roof frame panel trim above windshield towards the front (see job number 68-400).
4. Remove trim panels at B-pillars (see job number 68-470).
5. Remove trim panels at C-pillars (see job number 68-449).
6. Remove rear interior lamp and assist handles above doors.
7. Slide front seats fully to rear and lower backrests completely. Place selector lever in position "P".
8. Slide headliner rearward and unhook it from roof frame (2 retaining clips, Figure 2).
9. Remove headliner through right front door (Figure 3).
10. Installation is in reverse order.
