Suspension Control Pressure Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

Warning Lamp Electric Pressure Switch Test

126 Series

This test should be performed if the system warning light on the instrument panel remains lit or does not light at all. Pressure tester kit No. 126589022100 is required for performing this check.
1. Perform steps 1 through 3 as described under ``Pressure Regulator Test.''

2. Move adjusting switch, Fig. 3, to ``N'' position.
3. Turn ignition switch to the On position and check whether warning light illuminates when system is without pressure. In the ``S'' and ``H'' positions, the warning lamp will illuminate with instrument panel switch pulled out.
4. Start engine and run until approximately 100 bar (1450 psi) pressure is indicated on gauge, then stop engine.
5. Slowly open pressure gauge vent screw while an assistant observes warning light on instrument panel. The light should illuminate as pressure drops to 75-85 bar (1088-1233 psi).
6. If pressure switch does not respond as indicated, the switch or related wiring or connectors may be faulty.
7. To check pressure switch, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect switch electrical connector from engine compartment near left headlight.
b. Connect a suitable test lamp between 12 volt power source and pressure switch electrical connector.
c. Test lamp should light when system pressure is below switch cut-out pressure.
8. Move adjusting switch to ``M'' position to release oil pressure, then remove pressure gauge.
9. Check system oil level and correct as necessary.
