Modified Aneroid Compensator (ALDA)
As of Model Year 1993 production start up, a new style aneroid compensator (ALDA) was phased into production. The function of the new ALDA remains the same and injection pumps with new style and old style ALDA are fully interchangeable with the earlier version. Reconditioned injection pumps may be retrofitted with the new style ALDA during the reconditioning process.
The changes are confined to the appearance and the pressure line connector.
NOTE:
On 1985 and later models with push.on ALDA connectors, injection pumps with the new version ALDA can easily be connected by pushing the connecting piece of the pressure line onto the new style ALDA connector. The diameters of the old and new style connectors are the same (Version 1 [Figure 1]).
On some older prior to 1985 models with banjo style and hollow screw push on ALDA connectors, the connection of the pressure hose must be modified (Version 2 [Figure 2]).
Version 1: ALDA connector with banjo fitting:
1. Cut the pressure line as close as possible at the banjo style fitting.
2. Connect larger diameter end of adaptor (4), part no. 107 805 01 98, to pressure line (5).
3. Connect smaller diameter end of adaptor to new style ALDA (6).
Version 2: ALDA connector with banjo and hollow screw connector (3-way connection):
1. Cut the pressure lines off as close as possible to the banjo style fitting and the push-on fitting at the hollow screw.
2. Connect the Y-distributor (1), part no. 117 078 01 45, to the new style ALDA connector (6).
3. Connect the smaller diameter pressure line (2) to the Y-distributor.
4. Connect larger diameter end of adaptor (4), part no. 107 805 01 98, to larger diameter pressure line (5).
5. Connect the smaller diameter of the adaptor (4) to the Y-distributor (1) by means of a 2-3 inch piece of plastic tube (3), part no. 014 997 87 82 (or similar).
