EGR - Vacuum Transducer, One Vent Line

TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: August 1993

REF.NO. MBNA 14/10

SUBJECT:
DIESEL ENGINES NEW VACUUM TRANSDUCER

As of January 1993 production, a new vacuum transducer, part no. 000 545 03 27, was phased into production. The new vacuum transducer supersedes the previous version, part no. 001 540 79 97.

The new vacuum transducer can be identified by only one vent line connection to the outside rather than two vent line connections, as is the case with the previous version.

In case of repairs, the two vacuum transducers are interchangeable.

When installing a new vacuum transducer in place of the previous version, carefully review the vacuum harness set up example and Figure 1. Depending on which vacuum transducer is to be replaced and the existing vacuum line harness layout, modifications to the vacuum line harness should be performed such as listed below:

1. Remove T-hose, (1, Figure 1) from vacuum vent line (2) and discard.

2. Using connecting piece, carefully reconnect the vacuum vent line (2, Figure 1) directly to the single connection of the new version vacuum transducer.

Or

1. Remove connector (3, Figure 1) and the T-hose (1) at vacuum vent line (4). Discard both connector and T-hose.

2. Reconnect vacuum vent line (4, Figure 1) directly to the single vent line connection of the new version vacuum transducer.
